We love the weekends.
Even though in reality the weekends aren’t considerably different in routine to weekdays for the children and I, Saturday and Sunday does usually mean that daddy is home so we can have proper family time.
This weekend of course we had the added excitement of snow still being around and about our way.
On Saturday we needed a few things from the shop and was fortunate enough that our lane had cleared for much of the way – although there were a few icy patches at the top of the hill. I was thankful that Lee was driving and not me – I usually stay well out of the drivers seat when any of the white stuff is around – but Lee is far more confident having seen most driving conditions whilst commuting to jobs for work.
Sunday we decided another nice long walk would be rather lovely – although it ended up being quite a bit longer than we initially anticipated as we couldn’t find the public right of way we were seeking. I think we covered around 7 miles in all.
I look back on it fondly though. We were well wrapped up so the cold temperature wasn’t an issue at all, and it was so lovely to see the children enjoying the snow. Poor daddy took the greatest of the batterings by the many flung snowballs – and he loved it.
There were plenty of smile and happy chattering.
And Milo was loving the family time too.
The views were, as always, quite wonderful. This year will be the 7th year of our countryside abode and I can’t quite believe how blessed we are to have such lusciousness right at our door.
Getting back to our walking explorations is definitely something that I want to do more of this year. We had to slow down a little when Lee suffered his Sciatica bout and the subsequent spinal surgery, but now things are much improved we can start building up the adventures again.
